Agriculture & Surface Leasing

Sugarcane Surface Leasing
Sugarcane isn’t just a crop; it’s a symbol of our family’s deep connection to the land since 1877. Its towering stalks shaped the delta landscape, powered local economies, and helped define Louisiana’s cultural identity. Almost 150 years later, sugarcane remains a central part of our identity. JMB continues to lease fertile fields across Louisiana, maintaining longstanding relationships with local growers. These lease agreements enable farmers to cultivate sugarcane while preserving land integrity, ensuring sustainable yields, and strong rural livelihoods. Through meticulous land management and collaborative farming, we honor both the environment and our heritage.
Hunting Leases
JMB Companies, Inc. partners with landowners, agencies, and outfitting professionals to offer exclusive hunting leases across 47,000+ acres in Louisiana, Texas, and Florida. These leases provide regulated access for deer, waterfowl, turkey, and small game while preserving wildlife habitat and promoting sustainable land stewardship. By carefully managing season dates, bag limits, and habitat enhancement, we help maintain healthy wildlife populations, enrich local outdoor traditions, and deliver a unique recreational experience rooted in conservation.

Solar and Wind Farms
Renewable Energies:
Building on our legacy of land excellence, JMB has embraced renewable energy by optioning more than 34,000 acres for solar and wind farm developments. While we do not operate wind or solar facilities ourselves, we facilitate thoughtful collaboration with developers, enabling clean energy projects to thrive on our lands. Responsibilities include:
- Site evaluation and leasing — supporting the identification and preparation of suitable land parcels.
- Permitting and compliance coordination — ensuring alignment with environmental regulations and local ordinances.
- Land management planning — integrating biodiversity, drainage, and decommissioning considerations.
Cattle Operations
In West Texas (Brewster and Pecos Counties), JMB Companies, Inc. directly manages 33,500+ acres of high-desert ranchland, operating its own beef cattle herds. Our ranching efforts involve maintaining fences, water systems, and facilities, while ensuring responsible grazing practices and promoting land regeneration.
